Happy New Year, everyone.
2023 was one of the most challenging years of my life with my father's unexpected passing. While the first half of the year was joyous for many reasons, including finishing and releasing my latest novel, The Earth Consented, the second half brought profound sorrow. There were blessings within it, however, which included having the opportunity to have one last meaningful conversation with my father before he lost consciousness and his ability to speak. The signs he sent me following his passing were undoubtedly him - no question. For that, I am forever grateful.
From those signs, I am keenly aware that he is at peace where he is, and can communicate with my mother and me in fascinating new ways, which have left us in awe. He promised he would do that before he left and he kept that and many other promises.
I intend to honor my father's life for the rest of mine.
With the start of a new year, I believe I will find some peace and healing in writing my next book, the sequel to The Vampire, which readers have been requesting for years. I've already started. No telling how long this book will take to complete, but my imagination is engaged - that's all I truly need. That, and time.
Below are some photos of my dad, Edwin, during happy times, as well as some photos I'm using for inspiration for the new book, which will include many of the characters from The Vampire, as well as a few new ones I am really enjoying creating and I know readers will love, too.
